Cancún Buoyed by Mara Lezama’s Support for Sheinbaum
It was a sunny Saturday in Cancún, and the beachfront was buzzing with excitement as 35,000 people turned out for the “Honestidad y Resultados” rally. The atmosphere was electric, with residents keen to hear from the state governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa, and her strong support for the federal president, Claudia Sheinbaum.
"This state welcomes you with immense gratitude and with the certainty that we are living a historic moment, where the transformation of public life has meaning, when it benefits the people, and where public funds belong to the people and must return to the people,“ Governor Lezama emphatically declared.
Sheinbaum, in her speech, highlighted the significant impact of federal programs in Quintana Roo. She noted that 486,167 people in the state are beneficiaries of various social programs, including 116,690 senior citizens, 23,000 people with disabilities, 9,551 young people from the Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro program, and 60,617 high school students receiving the Benito Juárez scholarship.
Additionally, Sheinbaum announced plans for 76,200 affordable homes for low-income families, and more than 200,000 families have already benefited from restructured mortgage programs. The governor also pointed to the Puente Nichupté as a key infrastructure project that has seen significant progress.
"You can see the difference in the state,“ Sheinbaum said, addressing the crowd. "It's clear that the government is making a difference in people's lives."
For many residents, this support from the state governor was a welcome endorsement of the federal government's initiatives. As the rally drew to a close, the crowd erupted in cheers, echoing the message of unity and progress.
