New Park with Ice Rink and Pickleball Courts Boosting Fort Macleod’s Outdoor Scene
After years of planning, the town of Fort Macleod, just south of Calgary, is getting a significant upgrade with the addition of a new park featuring a hockey rink and pickleball courts. This development is part of the ongoing 150th Park project, which has been in the works since 2025 and is already bringing some much-needed amenities to the community.

The park, located along 9th Street between 4th and 5th Avenue, includes an outdoor arena for winter skating, a multi-sport court with basketball and pickleball lines, and basketball hoop poles. Other improvements such as new sidewalks, lighting, garbage and recycling bins, an irrigation system, and trees have also been installed. Once complete, the park will offer residents a variety of outdoor activities throughout the year, enhancing the town’s appeal for both locals and visitors.
Future plans for the park include the addition of a playground, making it an even more inclusive space for families and the community. As someone who has lived in Calgary for over five years, I can see how this kind of development brings a sense of community and belonging, especially in a smaller town like Fort Macleod.
