Calgary Teen Nick Starr: Balancing Sports and Academics
Nick Starr, a 16-year-old Calgary teen, has been making waves in both athletics and academics. After winning silver and bronze medals at the 2026 Jiu-Jitsu Con, Nick continues to inspire other expats and digital nomads by juggling multiple sports and school commitments.

As a multisport athlete, Nick has participated in badminton, wrestling, track and field, and competitive club rugby. He also holds the Alberta provincial bench press record for his age group. His dedication to staying unflappable and pushing himself to be the best version of himself is admirable.
Nick has also given back to his community by helping to build the summer camp program at Alliance BJJ Calgary, the center where he has trained since the age of 12. His commitment to both his personal and community goals is a sign of his resilience and determination.
This blog post is a reminder that whether you're a student, athlete, or digital nomad in Calgary, balancing multiple interests can lead to significant achievements. Nick's journey shows that with dedication and support, you too can excel in your passions and make a positive impact in your community.
