I spend a few months in Thailand every year as a tourist. I got a Thai bank account many years ago on a tourist visa. The debit card is convenient, but can’t be used for online purchases. If I get a Retirement Visa, will that make it possible to get a debit card that I can make online purchase with, even when I’m overseas? If so, will the card continue to work when I move back to the states for a few months?

To use your bank account online and internationally, you'll typically need to request that service be activated.

With a retirement visa, I was able to open a Bangkok Bank account and receive a credit card with a 20,000 THB limit. I even froze 20,000 THB in a fixed deposit account, which helped me qualify for the credit card. This setup works much better than their debit card for online purchases.
