Abu Dhabi landlord locked me out of my old rental with my cat inside?

I was renting a studio in Abu Dhabi without Tawtheeq, due to financial difficulties I was late with rent a couple of times, but eventually paid the outstanding rent/dues. Now my landlord has locked my cat inside the room and is threatening to kill him if I don't pay another amount.

If the landlord doesn't answer, try calling from a different number, and if that doesn't work, send an email. I once got locked out and had to call a locksmith who used a specialized tool to open the door without causing any damage. The service cost around 250 AED, which I paid on the spot. If all else fails, you can go to the police station and ask them to contact the landlord.

I've called the police multiple times, but they can't force entry into the property because I don't have a Tawtheeq certificate. The situation has been ongoing for almost a week, and the landlord is threatening to harm my cat and release it onto the street. He's also been asking for different amounts of money, which I believe is extortion. My neighbor has mentioned that they can no longer hear my cat meowing.

When the police or others try to contact the landlord, he's not answering their calls.

I'm feeling extremely worried and helpless because I've been separated from my cat for an extended period. The thought of being away from my pet for so long is taking a toll on me.

It's against the law to intentionally harm someone's pet. If you suspect animal abuse, you should report it to the authorities immediately.

If you're unable to get into the property, you might consider asking your neighbors to leave food for your cat under the door, such as treat packets. Alternatively, you could try contacting a locksmith to help you gain access to the property.

A kind neighbor has been secretly taking care of my cat and checking on it. However, she recently informed me that the landlord told her not to feed the cat anymore, or she would risk being evicted. She also mentioned that she can no longer hear any noise coming from inside the property.
