Where to stay in Puerto Vallarta for beach time with calmer waves?

I'm flying into PV this December for 5 days and I'm deciding where to stay. I want to stay somewhere with calmer waves so I can sit on the shoreline and get splashed by the waves, but I also want to be in a place with a chill, artisan vibe and good yoga scene.

If you're looking for a more peaceful experience, consider the southern part of the San Pancho beach, where the waves are generally calmer.

San Pancho is also a great base for exploring other nearby beaches, such as those within a 30-minute drive, which offer even calmer waters and can be easily reached by rental car or taxi.
