My wife and I have been to NYC twice this year. First time we went to the Prospect Park Zoo, second time we went to the New York Aquarium. Both times we were the only people there that weren’t Orthodox Jews.

That's definitely not a typical occurrence.

It's quite unusual that it's happened every time we've gone to see sea lions, even if it's only been twice. We've been to the aquarium a few times, and I'm pretty sure it's not usually that crowded.

It happened twice? I didn't even read your post before responding. I thought it only happened today or whatever.

If it's a Jewish holiday, you wouldn't typically find many Jews at places like these. I'm guessing that's not the case here.

If it's April or September/October, then yes, it's very specific holidays. Most Jewish holidays have restrictions, such as no driving or lighting fires. However, some holidays like Passover and Sukkot have a 'chol hamoed' period where it's a holiday and you can do stuff. Orthodox schools often take time off during these periods because it's one of the few times of the year when they're allowed to have fun and not study or pray all day.
