Is Riu Peninsula Hotel worth it?

I'm considering booking a room at Riu Peninsula Hotel in Cancún and I'm wondering if it's a good choice. I've heard it's newly renovated and close to the nightlife and downtown area. I'd also like to know if the food and drink options are good and if there are any nearby restaurants and stores I can walk to.

It's close to the nightlife area and the hotel itself is great. The pool parties are legendary and the views are incredible. I highly recommend it.

To be honest, there aren't many restaurants or stores within walking distance. It's a short bus ride, around 1-2 dollars, to get to the downtown area.
