How do I get picked up from the airport to Riu Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta?

Family of four with 2 kids under 4. We're staying at Riu Vallarta in November and booked a hotel and flight package, so we can't use the Riu shuttles. We're looking for private transport companies or car rental companies that are recommended for convenience and value.

Crossing the bridge can be a bit stressful if you have anxiety, but 1.2k pesos is an outrageous price. If you don't want to cross the bridge, you should be able to find a taxi outside the airport for at least half that cost. We recently took a taxi from Zona Romantica to Riu Palace and it was 600 pesos for a 45-minute ride for two people with carryons and luggage.

A 1,200 MXN fee isn't the end of the world, equivalent to about 60 US dollars. You can expect a private driver to reach out to you, but the price will likely be similar. I often cross the bridge and take the bus, an Uber, or taxi, depending on the time of day and my mood. An Uber XL over the bridge would probably be half the cost.

Getting an Uber XL is a good idea, especially if you have kids. It might come down to how they're feeling.
The bridge is only a 5-minute walk across, and it's perfectly fine. You can grab a burrito at Tacon de Marlin while you're on the other side.

There's a person who often assists people with multiple bags cross the bridge, and I usually tip them between 250 to 400 pesos depending on the number of bags we have.

Renting a car isn't necessary - just take a cab, and the cost won't break the bank. You can walk your kids and luggage over the bridge to save some money, but is it really worth it?
