I'm looking for a new mortgage broker or company to work with for buying a home in Houston. I want the lowest rates.

I've had a great experience with New American Funding. Michele was my contact and she was fantastic!

We worked with NBKC bank when we bought our home last year. They had the lowest interest rate and we got really low closing costs because they don't have a physical store. We also worked with a real estate agent that they introduced us to, Frosy and her husband, and they were great too.

We purchased our home recently and used Wellby credit union. They had pretty great rates and our mortgage broker couldn't beat it.

The community rate is generally pretty low, but the current offer is significantly higher at 7.250%.

As a title company owner, I've seen many lenders in action. I would advise against using national retail banks like Wells Fargo or Chase unless you have over a million dollars on deposit with them. Local banks or credit unions can be a good option if you already have a relationship with them, but their process can be bumpy.
