Do tips at Monki go to servers?

I had breakfast at Monki today and found out that they've introduced a new contract where all tips go to management, not the servers. I'm not going back because of this, but I'm wondering if I can still tip if I want to.

In Alberta, the law is quite clear: tips belong to the employee, not management. This is stated in Bill 210, which leaves little room for interpretation.

Servers often rely on customers being unaware of their rights, particularly younger people who might not be inclined to argue.

If we choose not to tip, will the restaurant still pay the servers the additional $10 per hour they're entitled to under the new contract?

In my opinion, restaurants should pay their servers a fair wage and not rely on customers to supplement their income. If a server provides exceptional service, a tip above the standard wage is certainly appreciated.

Despite the law change, some restaurants still ask for tips, which seems to be a lingering practice.
