Puerto Vallarta's Digital Nomad Scene: What's New for Expat Residents
Since settling in Puerto Vallarta in 2016, one of the most important aspects of my life here has been staying connected with the outside world. Fast forward to 2023, and significant changes have been made in the city's infrastructure to support expats and digital nomads like myself. In a move to improve the quality of life for residents, the city government has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing internet connectivity and reducing the cost of living for expats.
The new initiative includes several key changes. First, a partnership with a major internet service provider will see the installation of more high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the city, particularly in popular areas such as the Zona Romántica and downtown. This means more reliable internet access for those working remotely, which is crucial for my job as a Russian remote worker.
Additionally, the city is exploring ways to reduce the cost of living, such as negotiating better rates for utilities and public services. These efforts are particularly beneficial for expats like me who have been here for several years and are familiar with the nuances of living in Puerto Vallarta. However, it's important to note that some services may still face challenges, such as the availability of affordable housing and healthcare.
