I was talking to some friends who are visiting from the US and they were curious about the ownership of some well-known companies in Panama. They asked me if I knew which ones have been bought by foreign consortia, especially from Colombia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala.

Supermarkets like Rey, Romero, Mr. Precio, and Farmacias Metro - Econofarmacias, as well as stores like Tiendas Zaz, have been bought by foreign companies. Additionally, Bonlac, Estrella Azul, and La Chiricana have been acquired. Cerveceria Nacional and Cerveceria Baru have also been sold to foreign companies.

To be honest, it's hard to keep track of which companies are still Panamanian-owned. It seems like many have been sold to foreign consortia.

I've heard that companies like Petroautos, Silaba, Banistmo, Grupo Rey, Cementos Bayano, and Suzuki Félix Durán have been bought by foreign companies. It's a shame, but it seems like many Panamanian companies are being sold to foreign investors.
