Normal $826 electric bill for 38 days?

Just got our electricity bill and it’s $826 for 38 days. We live in a 2 story in 90670. The AC was running for the first week overnight because it didn’t cool the place down. The landlord hired someone to put sealant and recharged the AC. Other than that we have the AC at 76-78 typically but for the AC to be the one to cause that high of a bill… This seems crazy high.

To determine your electricity costs, you need to consider both the amount of power you use and the time of day you use it. Your rate plan will affect how much you pay per kilowatt-hour.

Come on, that's a pretty reasonable explanation.

You mentioned running the air conditioner constantly during a heatwave, which is an inefficient use of energy. Keeping it at 76 degrees will certainly drive up your bill. What did you expect?

A few months ago, I experienced a similar issue with my LADWP meter. They installed a new one and entered the numbers incorrectly, resulting in a $300 overcharge. It took several months of follow-up calls to rectify the situation. I've been a customer for over a decade, and my previous bills showed a consistent pattern of usage. If you look at your past bills, you might notice a similar trend. It's possible that LADWP made an error.
