I'm dropping off and picking up people for a concert at Toyota Center tonight and I don't want to drive back and forth. I live north and I'd like to find a place to hang out and do a bit of work while I wait. It doesn't have to be right near the venue but not an hour away either.

Tout Suite in Trebly Park (1515 Fannin St) is an option. They have a coffee shop, serve food and alcohol, and offer free WiFi. However, their small parking lot fills up quickly, and other parking is available on the street but might be metered.

If you grab some food from Phoenicia Market, you can then head to Discovery Green, which has well-lit areas where you can grade papers.
