Houston Independent School District Transportation Department

The Houston Independent School District Transportation Department provides safe, reliable, and timely bus service to eligible students. The department aims to limit ride times to 50 minutes each way for students attending their zoned school and 90 minutes each way for students attending a school of choice.

Eligible students attending their zoned school will be assigned a bus stop within approximately 2 miles of their home, while students attending a school of choice will be assigned a bus stop within 3 miles of their home. The department strives to provide eligible students with a bus stop that is within 3 miles of their home, unless a student attending a school of choice cannot be transported to school in less than 90 minutes from a stop within 3 miles of their home.
