I've seen people using them in North Avenue and it's a nightmare. My dog and I had to turn around because someone was walking three dogs on one retractable leash, and the owner was on her phone.

Retractable leashes don't make sense to me. No-pull harnesses are much more practical and safer for both dog and owner.

Retractable leashes don't prevent dogs from pulling on the leash. Instead, they often encourage dogs to pull and not stay close to their owners.

I had a retractable leash for five seconds before getting rid of it. It was useless for controlling a 20-pound, five-month-old dog. I'm not sure how it would work on a larger dog.

Retractable leashes aren't the problem - it's the owners who don't train or control their dogs. If owners were more responsible, retractable leashes might be less of an issue.

Retractable leashes can be very hazardous in the wrong hands, especially in situations where the owner lacks control or common sense.
