Cancún’s City Hall Supports Workers’ Education with 26 Academic Convenios
Hey there, fellow expat or digital nomad living in Cancún! If you're already here, or just considering a move, you might be interested to know that the local government is stepping up to support the education of its workers. The Ayuntamiento of Benito Juárez has established 26 academic convenios, which are pretty exciting for anyone looking to further their education while working here.
These convenios are with various institutions, both at the secondary and tertiary levels. They're designed to help workers complete their studies and even pursue higher qualifications like bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degrees. It's a win-win for the city and its residents, ensuring that those who work here can also grow professionally and personally.
The head of the Quality Training Directorate, Romina Cervera Estrella, explained that the convenios offer a range of benefits, including discounts, scholarships, and other financial incentives. These can be used by workers and their immediate family members, which is a nice touch.
For those already working in the city, you can start or finish your degree, take courses, or even participate in internships and practical placements within the municipal government. Some institutions require a minimum GPA of 8.5, but the discounts on fees can range from 10% to 100%. That's a pretty generous offer!
So, if you're looking for a place where you can work and study, Cancún might just be the perfect spot. The city is not only beautiful but also supportive of its residents' educational goals.
