I've seen many elderly people on the street asking for money, etc. What do you do about it? I usually don't carry change with me but sometimes I would like to get them food or lunch. Would they accept it?

I usually write to my local representative to express my concerns about the state of care for our most vulnerable populations. Homelessness is often a result of unfortunate circumstances, and these individuals deserve access to essential care services. For instance, I've seen that many shelters in Toronto provide food, clothing, and other basic necessities.

When interacting with people on the street, a simple 'Hey, would you like something from me?' can go a long way. Sometimes, just acknowledging someone's presence can be a big boost, and it may even help you develop confidence in engaging with others. It's essential to approach each situation with empathy and understanding.
