Where can a first-time deer hunter in Tantallon find a spot to hunt without stealing from experienced hunters?

I'm a first-time deer hunter with no friends or family in the area. I have my rifle, my wilderness card, and my hunters education, but I just need a spot to go to that isn't already taken by seasoned hunters. Is there anywhere decent around Tantallon that I could go and sit for a few hours each night this season?

Consider joining a local deer hunting group and reaching out to them. Many individuals are looking for partners to hunt with.

As a beginner, I'd start with grouse hunting. Walking an old timber road shortly after a rain can make it easier to find and field dress the game, and it's also more manageable to carry out.

I've often thought about how many deer I could have taken if I had slugs with me while grouse hunting.

In my experience, the most challenging part of hunting in this province is avoiding other hunters' spots.

The Ingramport wilderness area offers vast crown land, located just 15 minutes from Tantallon. Be cautious of areas that appear to have been recently logged, and start exploring the woods. If you encounter another hunter's setup or camera, give them a friendly wave and make a mental note to respect their space.
