SAKA Museum’s Kamasan Exhibition Brings Balinese Painting Tradition to Life
Ubud residents and visitors alike are in for a treat as SAKA Museum at AYANA Bali has launched its latest exhibition, KAMASAN: The Noble Tradition of Balinese Painting. This nine-month showcase, running from August 28, 2026, to May 30, 2027, delves into the rich history and current vitality of this centuries-old tradition.

Curated by Farah Wardani and Made Chandra, and designed by studiodikubu, the exhibition is a visual journey through the temporal chapters of Kamasan painting, from its origins to the modern day. Visitors will see a selection of over 30 artworks, including classical ritual cloths, palm-leaf works, and contemporary pieces that demonstrate the ongoing evolution of the style. The exhibition aims to highlight the contributions of women and the younger generation of artists who are pushing the boundaries of Kamasan’s visual language.
SAKA Museum is also offering a range of programs, such as artist talks, workshops, and children's activities, to enhance the visitor experience. These programs will provide a deeper understanding of the Kamasan tradition and its significance in Balinese culture.
