Tulum’s Conservation Week: What to Know and What to Expect
National Conservation Week in Tulum is set to run from October 23 to October 27, with over 20 activities organized by Conanp. The program aims to engage residents in caring for local ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural resources. Most events are free and take place in protected areas. Here’s what to know and expect:

- Friday begins with a hatha yoga session and a children’s play about an explorer bat at Hotel Ikal Tulum. The official inauguration is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, with activities starting at 6:30 a.m.
- Saturday is the busiest day, with beach cleanups at Caleta Tankah and paddleboard outings at Hotel Pocna. The program includes catamaran rides, a walk, and a talk on sea turtles.
- On Sunday and Monday, the focus shifts to the Jaguar Flora and Fauna Protection Area, with biocultural tours and recreational activities. Workshops and talks on citizen science and environmental monitoring are also planned.
- The week ends with a Day of the Dead altar for wildlife struck by vehicles at the Centro Artesanal de Tulum.
Residents and visitors can join these events, with spaces limited at every event except the opening ceremony. The program encourages reuse of materials and reduces household waste with the recycling contest 'Give It a Second Life.'
