Is Global Bank's 4% Online Max account real or just a marketing gimmick?

I'm considering opening a savings account in Panama City, and I came across Global Bank's Online Max account with a 4% annual interest rate. I've been maintaining a $1,000 balance for a month, but when I checked my statement, I was only credited with $1.80 in interest. The bank told me that the first $500 doesn't generate any interest, and the 4% is only applied to the excess.

I didn't know about the $500 minimum requirement, or maybe that's a new rule. Before, it was 4.75%.

Those $500 are peanuts, and the difference is minimal if you have a larger balance with them.

Do they have minimums? Can you withdraw whenever you want? I see Unibank gives 4% from $1 and up, which might be the best option.

Brother, to get 4% at Caja de Ahorros, you need $50,000, which is a hundred times more, and Banco Mercantil is the same.
