How much is the PhD stipend for computer science grad students at UM?

I'm a British student considering PhD positions in computer science at the University of Miami, and I'm trying to plan my living expenses for the upcoming year. I've been researching but couldn't find any information on the PhD stipend for CS students at UM. I'm hoping to get an idea of how much I can expect to earn to cover my living costs.

Contact the graduate office to find out the exact stipend amount, which can vary depending on the program.

The stipend is approximately $45,000.

I've heard the stipend is in the $33 to $34 thousand range, which seems relatively low, but it's worth noting that healthcare is often free. For comparison, my son, a PhD student in chemical engineering at MIT, receives a stipend of $55,000, but he has to pay for his own health insurance.

You should ask the department directly about their stipend policies. If they're not transparent, it might be a sign of a bigger issue.

It's a good idea to ask the department about the stipend, but be aware that approaching the PIs directly about stipend amounts might raise some eyebrows if your priorities seem to be focused on the stipend rather than the research itself.
