New Training Programs Launch to Boost Local Economy in La Libertad
Since moving to La Libertad in 2021, I've been keeping a close eye on how the municipality is evolving. The latest news is exciting: the Labor Training Center (CFL) of La Libertad Sur, in partnership with Innova Experience Academy, has launched two new training programs to support local economic growth and tourism development.
The first program, titled “Embajadores y Guías Turísticos,” is a one-month, fully funded initiative aimed at residents aged 18 to 45. This program covers essential skills such as heritage interpretation, visitor safety, basic conversational English, and storytelling techniques. Training sessions will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., starting the second week of September. The program is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to showcase iconic landmarks like El Boquerón in Santa Tecla and El Peñón in Comasagua.
Complementing this, the municipality is also offering specialized coffee training at the historic Palacio Tecleño in Santa Tecla. This two-tier program includes an “Introduction to Barism” course focusing on bean varieties, roasting, and equipment maintenance, followed by an advanced “Barista Mastery” module covering extraction methods, recipe creation, and customer service.
These initiatives are part of La Libertad Sur’s broader strategy to enhance service quality in the eco-tourism and hospitality sectors. By providing practical skills in both guided heritage experiences and professional coffee preparation, local authorities are opening up economic pathways for residents and preparing the municipality for an increasing number of international visitors.
