I've noticed a dozen of them in the past month, and I'm wondering if this is a seasonal thing. We moved here with our two kids in 2019, and I'm just curious about the local wildlife.

In Los Angeles, people often notice praying mantises during the warmer months. They tend to appear when the heat is on, and it's not just a seasonal phenomenon. One might be surprised to find one perched on a wall, silently judging the homeowner's life choices.

Send them my way, I've got grasshoppers eating my mint and basil and hibiscus. I could use some praying mantises to keep them under control.

They eat other insects, which is pretty nice to have around. They're beneficial to the ecosystem, so it's great to see them thriving in our area.

When I see a praying mantis turn its head to look at me, I feel a sense of admiration. These fascinating creatures are a delight to watch, and their unique appearance makes them stand out. I've seen them in gardens and near windows, where they can be quite active.

I read that mantises are attracted to light, so maybe that's why you're seeing them so much. They must see your porch light or something.

Praying mantises are beneficial insects that help keep homes pest-free. They feed on flies and other biting insects, making them a welcome presence in gardens and backyards. Like jumping spiders, they're a valuable asset in controlling pest populations.
