Cancún’s New MOBI Route Connects North Residents to Zona Hotelera

In the heart of the Riviera Maya, where my journey as a Mexican-American nurse began, a significant transportation development has taken root. The Ruta 27 Puente Nichupté of MOBI has now opened, offering a direct connection from the northern part of Cancún to the Zona Hotelera. This route, which spans 64.9 kilometers, passes through 155 neighborhoods and serves over 156,000 people, can potentially cut travel times by up to 50 minutes for some.

The cost of travel via Ruta 27 is now at 15 pesos per trip, with a reduced fare of 10 pesos for students and the elderly. Those with a disability can travel for free with the appropriate credentials. While the free trial period has ended, the transition to paying fares is smooth, with options like the MOBI General card or a virtual card accessible through the MOBI app.

For those of us who live and work in the northern fringes of Cancún, this new route means a more efficient commute. As a nurse, I can imagine the relief this will bring to countless individuals who previously faced longer travel times. It’s a practical step toward enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors alike, making the city more navigable and enjoyable for all.
