ORYn: A New Culinary Experience in Ubud's Heart
Ubud, the heart of Bali’s cultural scene, has just added a new culinary gem to its list: ORYn. Founded by hospitality entrepreneurs Tom and Bina Philip, ORYn brings together the essence of smoke, spice, and spirits under the guiding hand of Head Chef Danial Fitri Yap. The restaurant, located on Jl. Monkey Forest, promises an upscale-casual setting that is both engaging and expressive.
ORYn's philosophy lies in the raw refinement of its dishes, which are prepared on an open-fire kitchen. Chef Danial, with his Michelin-starred background, ensures that every ingredient is treated with respect, allowing its natural character to shine through. The menu moves freely across culinary traditions, from fresh seafood to premium cuts of meat, all cooked over the flames. The bar, too, is an integral part of the experience, with a cocktail menu that draws on the natural affinities of gin, rum, and agave.
“At ORYn, we are returning to the origins of flavor,” explain Tom and Bina. “Our goal is to create an earthy, immersive experience where every dish feels pulled directly from the elements.” The restaurant’s concept is more than just a dining experience; it’s a celebration of the alchemy of the moment, from the dim glow of the fire to the weight of a glass in hand.
10 years in Ubud after a decade of saying it was temporary. Argentine originally.
