The Distillery Winter Village is back, and this year promises to be even more delightful for expats and digital nomads in Toronto. Opening on November 12, the festive event transforms the historic cobblestone streets into a winter wonderland, complete with twinkling lights, heated venues, and a host of new and returning food and drink options.

One of the highlights this year is Demetres on Gristmill Lane, where you can enjoy giant, freshly pressed stroopwafels in a charming canal house setting inspired by Amsterdam. Last year’s viral hit, Cluny Roche’s gooey Hungarian monkey bread, is making a comeback, along with other comfort food favorites like truffle Pecorino mac and cheese from Cheese Boutique.

For those looking for a cozy atmosphere, Chef’s Lane has been reimagined as a speakeasy-style strip, offering a peek into the kitchens of four top Toronto chefs. Don’t miss the smoked chicken on brioche from Taylor Wells or the crispy Amritsari fish pakoras by Arush Vardhan Singh.

Elsewhere, The Archeo patio is transforming into The Canuck Tavern, complete with festive decor, heated seating, and ski-chairlift photo ops. Cluny Tunnel is hosting DJ sets to the rhythm of disco-ball snow people, while nearby, a flowing Costa Rican chocolate waterfall drizzles over fresh fruit.

The holiday favorites are also back, including the Naughty or Nice Bar, which gets a festive makeover with 50,000 blue-and-white lights and a larger communal table. Billy’s Bodega and The Spirit of York are serving up comfort food classics like tiramisu hot chocolate and the famous Yorkie Burrito, a Sunday roast wrapped in a giant Yorkshire pudding.

For those who prefer a more adventurous experience, the Distillery Winter Village offers a variety of new spots and treats. Whether you’re looking for a cozy night in or a festive night out, there’s something for everyone at this year’s event. Mark your calendars, as the Distillery Winter Village promises to be a must-visit spot for expats and locals alike.
