Puerto Rico Faces Continued Flood Risk This Sunday
Despite some relative improvement expected, the National Meteorological Service (SNM) in San Juan has advised that rainfall activity will be less extensive than on Friday, due to a high-altitude wind system moving eastward over the islands.

However, abundant moisture from the southwest combined with the daily heating and marine breezes will promote the formation of thunderstorms and showers during the afternoon.
The Service warned that slow-moving storms and saturated soils will maintain localized flooding risks, including urban areas and small streams, as well as rapid rises in small rivers and water pooling on poorly drained roads.
Additional isolated landslides are also expected.
For Monday, the available moisture will gradually diminish as the high-moisture axis shifts eastward. However, marine breezes and daily heating are expected to trigger showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon, mainly from the interior towards the north of Puerto Rico.
The localized flood risk will continue, while the rainfall activity in the Virgin Islands will be less isolated.
Temperatures are not expected to pose a significant threat during this period, though limited impacts are anticipated for those most sensitive to high temperatures, especially those spending prolonged periods outdoors without sufficient hydration or access to cool areas.
Residents in Santurce, Puerto Rico should be prepared for possible flash flooding due to the ongoing risk of localized rainfall and the potential for saturated soils.
