Why is there no sargazo on Playa del Carmen beaches?

Sargasso is seasonal, it typically occurs from April/May to September/October.

I recently visited Playa del Carmen and spent a considerable amount of time at the beaches near 12th Street, 4th Avenue, and the area around Cozumel Town Marina. Fortunately, I didn't encounter any sargassum during my stay.
