Why are they removing bike symbols on Central in front of the park?

I was out with my family last night and noticed they're removing the bike symbols on Central in front of the park. They're not old or worn off, and I'm wondering if the laws changed for bikes or if this is part of a larger removal due to the crosswalk laws. I've tried searching online but couldn't find anything.

I think the Downtown Gap Trail project is related to the new sidewalk being added for safety. This way, bicyclists won't have to ride on the roads.

I'm curious about the project on Central. According to what I've seen, only a small section of Magnolia is being improved. Maybe they're expanding the project? Our sidewalks remain untouched for now.

New bike lanes are being installed on Washington. Although I'm not sure about the overall design, it seems like a positive development.

The city is undertaking significant street renovations downtown. Given this, it's reasonable to assume this is part of a larger project.

It appears the city is relocating bike lanes to wider sidewalks. This change is likely part of a broader initiative to improve safety.

The bike symbols on Central have always felt more like a suggestion than a dedicated lane. I ride this route frequently and think the sidewalk section in front of the park is a nicer option.
