How likely am I to need a rabies shot after a bat sighting in Manhattan?

I was sitting alone on my phone on my friends rooftop in FiDi around 5:30 today and heard some sounds above me in the gazebo. I thought it was just the wind so I ignored it. After a minute or two I looked up just in time to see something small and brown flying by. Wondering how likely it is I need to get a rabies shot now? I should have mentioned I think the sound were it flying around the top of the gazebo which is why I’m assuming it might have been rabid because it was acting strangely.

I often spot bats in Prospect Park, but I'm not sure if they cross the river.

I've seen bats in Central Park, but I'm not sure if they're common or just a rare sighting.

Bats can be found in Prospect and Central Parks, and possibly in Battery Park as well. However, it's also possible that you saw a chimney swift. In any case, you don't need to worry about getting a shot.

I have a severe rabies phobia, which is unusual where I'm from. The general rule of thumb is that you don't need to worry about bats if you're outdoors or in an open space. However, if you're in an enclosed space and a bat suddenly appears after a long time, it's best to err on the side of caution. If you're in a situation where a bat is flying erratically and can't escape, it's possible that it could slam into you, as its wings aren't designed for high-speed flight.
