Isla Mujeres Celebrates Four Years of Playa Platino Success
After four years in a row, Isla Mujeres has once again earned the Playa Platino distinction for its Playa Norte and Playa Centro beaches. This prestigious recognition means that the beaches meet high standards of quality, cleanliness, conservation, and environmental management. The award was presented during a national meeting in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, to the acting mayor, Isla del Mar Magaña López, and the director of the Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre, Dayana Pérez Medina.

The beaches have achieved excellence for the second consecutive year, marking a significant achievement. This success reflects the ongoing efforts to keep the areas in top condition. Additionally, the event included sessions on beach conservation and cleanup, discussions on sargasso management, waste disposal, and garbage separation. A presentation on the use of space technologies and monitoring tools was also given, highlighting their role in evaluating sargasso presence and beach width changes.
The municipal government credits this recognition to the coordinated efforts of ZOFEMAT and the daily work of departments responsible for cleaning, maintenance, surveillance, and beach protection. The commitment to preserving Isla Mujeres' natural heritage is evident. This achievement reinforces the island's dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable tourism, ensuring quality beaches for both locals and tourists.
