Paseo Cancunense: Fun and Local Support at Malecón Tajamar
A warm October morning in Cancún saw the 44th edition of the Paseo Cancunense, a beloved tradition that brings families together for fun and local support. As the sun rose, locals and visitors alike gathered at Malecón Tajamar to enjoy a day filled with recreational, sporting, and cultural activities. The event, spearheaded by the municipal president, Ana Paty Peralta, through the Instituto de Planeación de Desarrollo Urbano (IMPLAN), encourages active mobility and the use of public spaces.

From early morning until noon, families could walk, bike, skate, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll with their pets along the avenue. This family-friendly event also provided a safe space for socializing. For those looking to support local businesses, three exhibitors from the “Ellas Facturan” program set up stands, offering a variety of goods, from artisanal soaps and perfumes to vegan products and silver jewelry.
The Paseo Cancunense also boasts a nighttime edition, the Paseo Cancunense Nocturno, which takes place on the first Saturdays of each month from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. This extension of the event offers more opportunities for residents and tourists to enjoy Malecón Tajamar and use it as a meeting point.
For expats and digital nomads like myself, running a small café in the heart of Cancún, events like these are not only a highlight of the city but also a chance to connect with the local community and support small businesses. If you're in town, make sure to check it out; it's a great way to spend a Sunday and support local entrepreneurs.
