Why are we still having SRP Conservation Events in October?

I signed up for the SRP Bring Your Own Thermostat (BYOT) program last summer, but now that it's still happening in October, I'm starting to wonder what's putting so much pressure on the grid.

Data centers need the power.

I disabled it after they kept adjusting our temperature to 92 degrees during the hot summer months.

That sounds like an error in the system. I had my air conditioner set to 85 degrees during the 110-degree days and was lowered to around 82 degrees during the pre-cool phase of the conservation events, then returned to 84 or 85 degrees during the event.

The issue is likely due to the company not purchasing enough electricity ahead of time.

We've been adjusted three times in the last four days, with a temperature swing of over five degrees each time. The impact seems significant, especially considering the $25 annual cost.

Initially, I signed up without thoroughly reading the terms, thinking it was a civic duty to participate in the program for the entire valley. I was surprised to learn that the $25 savings was for the entire year, not per month. I'd like to know how to opt out now.
