Isla Mujeres Boosts Infrastructure with Jesús Martínez Ross Avenue Renovation
The island of Isla Mujeres has seen a significant upgrade with the recent renovation of the Jesús Martínez Ross avenue. This project, spearheaded by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, includes a range of improvements such as new pavement, pedestrian walkways, better signage, and enhanced urban aesthetics. The total renovation covers 6,970 square meters of asphalt, 2,550 square meters of sidewalks, and 2,760 linear meters of curbs. Additionally, five asphalt barriers, a concrete pedestrian crossing, and 26 vertical signs have been installed to improve safety. Eighty-five homes also received a fresh coat of paint to beautify the neighborhood.

These changes aim to enhance the daily lives of residents and visitors alike, making the area safer and more welcoming. As someone who has traded the startup scene of Berlin for the island life here, I can appreciate how such infrastructure improvements can boost the quality of life for expats and digital nomads like myself who call Isla Mujeres home.
Traded Berlin's startup scene for Isla Mujeres' island time. Turns out you can debug code in a hammock—it just takes longer because the beach keeps distracting you. Software dev helping expats find their rhythm in Caribbean Mexico.
