I'm looking for a good vet for my cat in New York. Reviews are mixed, and I want to find one that's decently priced, doesn't order unnecessary tests, and provides straightforward, honest pet care.

The Cat Practice in Chelsea is highly recommended. Dr. Dougherty is a loving vet who's patient with my three vet-hating tabbies. It's a cat-only practice, which makes it less stressful for your cat.

Dr. Dougherty at my vet's office is very clear about the tests he recommends and why. He's thorough with senior cat exams, which is especially important for cats like mine that are 11 and 13 years old.

My friend had a good experience with a vet near the park in the Lower East Side. They charged her an $85 visit fee and told her her cat didn't need some of the treatments she was considering.

Heart of Chelsea maybe?

Heart of Chelsea has some very caring vets, but they can be quite expensive.

I'm extremely grateful to Brilliant Vet Care for saving my cat's life. They provide excellent care, and I've never had to wait more than a week for an appointment. They're open on Sundays, which is convenient. A basic check-up costs under $100, but lab work can add $50 or more to the bill.

I've had a positive experience with Gramercy Park Animal Hospital. The doctor is knowledgeable and experienced. It's worth noting that some animal hospitals are owned by private equity companies.

Rivergate Veterinary is located on First Avenue between 37th and 38th streets. You'll need to call them for pricing information.
