According to Pete the Plumber, whose booth was at the show, 'even minor plumbing issues can turn into major problems if not fixed right.' He offered a few key points:
- Electrical work: Hire a licensed electrician to prevent fires and ensure safety.
- Plumbing: Call a professional for complex or large-scale projects to avoid leaks and water damage.
- Structural issues: Engage a structural engineer for any changes or repairs to your home's foundation.
For expats and digital nomads, knowing when to say 'I can’t do this myself' is crucial. DIY might save money initially, but a poorly executed project can cost much more in repairs down the line. Pete advised, 'Don't skimp on quality. It's better to spend a bit more upfront to avoid bigger headaches later.'
