Can you get an EpiPen in Thailand?

My son is deathly allergic to shellfish and I'm worried about his safety while we're in Thailand. My doctor seems a bit flaky and told me that you cannot get an EpiPen in Thailand. Just looking for a sanity check.

It's not possible to purchase auto-injecting pens here. You'll need to bring your own, which should be several in number.

EpiPens are not readily available unless a pharmacy or hospital has specifically imported them. You'd need to check individually for availability. It's a good idea to bring some from home and have a plan in place to obtain a local alternative in case you run out.

We've used pre-loaded syringes that are replaced every three months when we're between trips abroad. Interestingly, we once used an epinephrine auto-injector for children that was manufactured in Thailand, but it was only available for purchase in the US.

It's a good idea to bring a few auto-injecting pens with you, as they're not readily available here. Bangkok is known for its abundance of fish oil, which is often used in local dishes like Papaya Salad and Pad Thai. You can find it in various markets, including those near Bang Sue Junction.
