My partner works in the building and told me it was one of the worst scenes she's ever seen. She said from her high floor, she could see other buildings swaying and people running for cover. I'm just wondering if anyone else experienced anything like that.

The buildings are designed to withstand earthquakes and they did, at least according to the initial reviews. As for decorative elements or windows failing, there weren't many cases, but I understand that's not the main concern.

That's the correct behavior for high-rise buildings - they're supposed to move! It's a good sign.

I work on the 25th floor and it was intense. The building swayed like a pendulum, with long and slow movements. I immediately went to the center of the tower. When we evacuated by the stairs, it was clear that the building's narrow design was a problem - a woman fainted and we had to help her down.

Glad you're here to share your story. The building performed as it should have.

What did people outside hear? Was it the building moving?

That's what someone in the street said they heard.

During an earthquake, skyscrapers should sway at the frequency of seismic waves and stay upright long enough for people to evacuate safely. Today's quake was the strongest we've felt in Panama City since 1882, and it passed the test with flying colors.
