Is Communauto affordable for frequent use?

Is Communauto affordable for frequent use?
Transportation 4 answers • Mathieu Chen
I've been thinking of using Communauto a few times a week instead of taking the bus, but I've heard mixed things about it. I'm wondering if it's worth it for frequent use.

I've been a member with a plan for years and have been very pleased with the service. If you choose a plan that suits your needs, it's definitely worth considering. However, I've found that many people who own cars often underestimate the actual costs involved. In my experience, using Communauto has been significantly more cost-effective than owning a car, especially when you factor in gas and insurance costs.

I was initially considering renting a car for day trips or weekend getaways, but when I saw the costs and lack of availability, I looked into Communauto as an alternative. I'm wondering if it's feasible for that type of usage, especially considering my concerns about reliability and access to EV stations in areas like the eastern shore, Yarmouth, and the mid-Valley. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

I love using Communauto, but I've found that it can add up quickly if you're not careful. That being said, it can be cheaper than taking an Uber, especially when public transit is unreliable. I've had a promo that gave me free flex rides for 15 minutes, which was great for the first month. I've also found it to be a good option for occasional trips to places like Bayers Lake or Dartmouth. When I do the math, I've found that the cost of car insurance and gas would be more than what I pay for Communauto, making it a good deal for me.

I've been a member for many years and use the service multiple times a week. I would definitely recommend it, especially considering that the membership and rental costs include gas and insurance. I love that I never have to worry about gas prices or maintenance. While I do occasionally run into availability issues, especially during summer weekends and holidays, I've found that it's usually possible to find a car if you plan ahead. I'm on the highest tier plan and find it to be worth it for my frequent use, but you could always start with a lower tier plan and see how it goes.
