I don't want my tax dollars being used to rescue people who get trapped when that area floods. Or to bail them out. If you want to pave over an area prone to flooding, perhaps you should ask the developer who sold you the land for help.

The people who will be affected by flooding are living in existing neighborhoods within the watershed. Many of them experienced flooding during a recent storm, and I'm worried that my own home, which barely flooded before, will be severely affected in the next storm due to this development's impact.

Developers in Florida often seem to have a get-out-of-jail-free card. Once they've cleared the land, built their properties, and collected their payments, they have no accountability. They can build wherever and however they want, as long as they have the funds to do so.
