DPS voter registration backlog in Collin County: what to do?

I'm a Canadian expat living in Dallas and I'm worried about the DPS voter registration backlog in Collin County. I've been trying to register to vote through DPS, but it seems like there's a problem with the system.

It's worth noting that the USPS has changed the way they process mail, which might affect how voter registration applications are sent in. Previously, mail was postmarked the same day it was dropped off, but now it gets postmarked later.

You can obtain a manual postmark by visiting a retail counter and requesting it. Alternatively, using certified or registered mail will provide you with a dated receipt.

I had a similar experience when I tried to modify my voter details through DPS. It didn't work, so I mailed in the paperwork and it was completed in April. Now I'm worried that the DPS backlog will affect my registration.

Be aware that there's a fake website claiming to check your voter registration, so make sure to use the legitimate website from the Texas government.
