Where are the Ethernet switch boxes in Bois Franc housing?

Where are the Ethernet switch boxes in Bois Franc housing?

I live in a typical semi-detached in Bois Franc. My room is in an internet dead spot due to my Bell router being in my basement. I have Ethernet ports spread across my house. I cannot find where they lead to.

Inspect the RJ-45 Ethernet panels to locate the cable run. If it's cabled, the cables likely converge at a central point. This could be a node or junction in a closet or other area. Consider asking the previous owners for information.

In some houses, the electrician may have wired Ethernet cables in series instead of parallel, resulting in a complex cable run. For example, a basement port might connect to the kitchen, then to room 1, and so on. If you're familiar with Ethernet wiring, consider investing in a crimping kit with a tester and a 9V battery to help you understand the setup.

This setup reminds me of old token-ring networks, where computers were connected in series. These networks predated Ethernet and were often used in the past.

Interestingly, Ethernet was originally designed to work with series connections. However, in modern setups, this would lead to numerous collisions and poor throughput.

Many houses have their Wi-Fi router in the basement, leading to poor signal strength. This is often due to the router being placed underground, where the signal struggles to penetrate concrete walls. When it comes to Ethernet cabling, houses are often built with a standard setup. If you're unsure, try knocking on your neighbor's door and asking if they have Ethernet cabling and know where the box is located.

Unfortunately, we have a similar setup in our house. To improve the Wi-Fi signal, we installed Wi-Fi extenders throughout the house, which has worked well for us.
