How to identify a vehicle that caused rock chip damage?

I was driving on the 103 approaching exit 5 this afternoon and got covered in rocks from another vehicle, causing many paint chips and scratches on my windshield. I'd like to know which company the truck belonged to.

You'll need to file a comprehensive claim with your insurance company. They'll be responsible for proving liability in this situation.

For many companies, glass damage often has a $0 deductible, which means you can get a free replacement as long as it's a one-time incident.

Usually only $0 if it’s a chip. If the glass requires replacement it’s normal deductible.

Since you posted a still image, you might want to contact Dexters or the Municipal group, as they're likely responsible for the unsecured load. You could also reach out to Vehicle Compliance with the province, as that's an unsecured load. Additionally, you could report the vehicle as unsafe to the police. To cover any damage, make an insurance claim and let the truck's owner deal with the issue.

If the vehicle belongs to Dexter's, contacting them is the best course of action. I had a positive experience with them when I dealt with damage caused by road debris; they were cooperative and settled the issue quickly.

It is not Dexters.

Unfortunately, this incident falls under your insurance coverage, so you'll need to work with them to resolve the issue.

The 103 highway is a major route for gravel delivery, with several contracting companies using their trucks and live bottoms to transport materials. It's challenging to identify the responsible party without more information, as there are multiple projects and stops along the highway. For example, there's a large Marco project in Lunenburg that ARCP is hauling for, and the truck could have been leaving from one of the many stops along the 103, which may not be related to Dexters.
