Should I report a stranger trying my front door?

Should I report a stranger trying my front door?

I live on Windsor Street near the Forum, my apartment has a facing door towards the street. Today, and while I was home, a woman I’ve seen around the neighbourhood before came up to the door and aggressively tried the handle, as if she was trying to get inside. She left after around 10 seconds of trying. I was inside but was scared to do anything. I opened the door and saw her on the steps of my building.

Yes and lock your door.

It's a good idea to report any suspicious activity to the non-emergency line, even if the police don't take immediate action. This creates a paper trail, and if the person is known in the area, it may help the police connect the incident to other reports. Additionally, informing the landlord can prompt them to take extra security measures, such as restricting building entry if the issue persists.

I've encountered the person in question before while I was picking up recycling in a shopping cart in the neighborhood. However, I never expected her to try my door. Since then, I've installed a security camera.

Yes, I would definitely report that to the police. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

I had a similar experience last year when a suspicious individual was seen walking back and forth in front of my house. My front door camera captured footage of him trying my door multiple times, even going so far as to lay down and appear to be sleeping or unconscious. I called the non-emergency police line and reported the incident. Approximately 15 minutes later, the individual got up and left just before the police arrived. The officers took my information and went to look for him. Later that evening, I received a call from one of the officers, informing me that they had found the individual up the street and taken him into custody.

There were numerous reports of break-ins and attempted break-ins in the area this week.
