What expats recommend in Calgary
The Calgary Transit team is running a special shuttle from Somerset-Bridlewood CTrain Station directly to Spruce Meadows for the advance voting station. It'll run every 30 minutes, from 9 a.m. until just after 8 p.m., throughout all five days of advance voting, ending October 17.
I think Carino on 4th is awesome. Cool little place with amazing food. It's downtown, so you'll fit right in with your birthday plans.
Reportedly, Ari Sushi in Inglewood offers the best sushi experience in Calgary, with amazing quality. For those looking for a high-quality sushi experience without breaking the bank, Ari Sushi is worth a visit.
At Crossroads Market, you can find several vendors selling jerky, including one who used to make smoked jerky with no nitrates or preservatives. It's a good place to look for your desired type of jerky, and you can also try to find out if the vendor who made the smoked jerky is still selling their product somewhere else.
High Line Taproom is hosting a Halloween party with DJs and dancing from 6pm till midnight on the 31st. Plenty of 30+ers will be in attendance, making it a great spot for those looking for a fun and lively atmosphere.
Dr. Leopky out of Imagine Health in South Calgary is wonderful, non-judgmental, in her 30s, easy to understand, and open to suggestions. She is located in South Calgary, but the exact address is not provided in the source.
Go to Pizzeria Gaga for a delicious regular pizza and for the owners' kindness - they give away pizzas to those in need regularly. It's located in Calgary, no specific neighborhood mentioned, and it's a great spot to try their huge variety of pizzas.
Congress is my favorite - amazing coffee, they do events and can get loud but open until until 9 on wed and tues and until 10 on Friday Best of luck hope this helps!
I'd highly recommend Taquiera El Charrito on Edmonton Trail, it's a mom & pop place so the ambience isn't best for date night. But the food makes up for it ten times over. Tacos Mexico is good spot too.
European Market in Deerfoot Meadows has lots of atypical candies and chocolates from mostly eastern Europe. As a parent in Calgary, I appreciate that this market offers a unique selection of treats that go beyond the usual Halloween candy.
Can’t go wrong with Pie Junkie, imo. It's a popular choice among locals.
The Deerhead Cafe is a popular spot for breakfast, reportedly mentioned in practically every post on a local forum asking for breakfast recommendations. The cafe is known for its club sandwich and fries, with one reviewer calling it the 'best' they've ever had.
West Valley Flooring has a team of skilled installers who do an amazing job at prep and installation. They are not the cheapest option, but after a great experience with them, I'll definitely use them again.
The Party Level at the Dome is a great place to watch Calgary Flames games with a good crowd. It's located at the Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the Flames, which makes it the ultimate spot for fans.
Calgary Full Gospel is a very music-forward and community-oriented church, a previous attendee says. They have a great kids program too, and the community is described as a 'friendlier group of people in my life.'
Flat Boy is a spot for its Oklahoma smash burgers, particularly the Oklahoma style, which stands out. Try it as a double with no pickles, and be prepared for a pricey but delicious meal. The staff is also awesome, and the atmosphere is great.
My son loved non-competitive dance at 3 years old. Instead of doing full year stuff we found 4-5 week sessions of each thing was best so we didn’t do too much.
Renting gear from U of C is very affordable. It's a great way to try out skiing or snowboarding without breaking the bank, and you can always upgrade to your own gear later.
Thai Thien Sub on 1st is always packed on weekdays from open till mid afternoon. I'm not sure about the evenings.
Moose McGuire's is a bar in Calgary that serves a pint of beer, a bacon cheeseburger with fries, and loads up with peanuts. It's a cheaper alternative to the Dining Hall, and the peanuts help to absorb the mess on the floor, keeping the bar relatively clean.
