Bar Butcher: A More Affordable Luxe Steakhouse Opens Downtown
Bar Butcher, a more affordable version of the upscale Butcher Chef, has just opened its doors in downtown Toronto. This new establishment is causing quite a stir among locals and visitors alike, offering a blend of luxury and accessibility.

Located at 31 Bay Street, formerly the home of Miller Tavern, Bar Butcher aims to cater to a diverse clientele, from sports fans to working professionals. According to Michael Dabic, the founder, the name 'bar' is meant to make the restaurant feel more approachable and less intimidating. The menu, crafted by executive chef Derek Von Raesfeld and head chef Michael Pallister, features dry-aged beef, hormone and antibiotic-free meat, and tallow-cooked fried items. Expect to find a 12oz Alberta ribeye for under $80 and a homemade Bolognese for under $25.
The drinks menu also offers affordable options, with bottles starting at $40. With its prime location near the financial district and Scotiabank Arena, Bar Butcher is quickly becoming a favorite among Torontonians looking for a more budget-friendly yet luxurious dining experience.
