What to do during a minor earthquake?

We moved to Panama City with our two kids in 2022. I'm trying to figure out the best course of action during a minor earthquake, as my kids and I have already experienced a few and I'm not sure if we should stay inside or go outside. We've been leaving the house a few times already, but I'm looking for more guidance on how to keep everyone safe.

It's stressful, but I try to stay vigilant, especially if I'm in a building. I'm always on the lookout for my brother when he's sleeping, but I think it's a good idea for everyone to be aware of their surroundings during an earthquake.

I'm at work and I just went out to the parking lot, but I'm not sure if that's the best thing to do. I'm just trying to stay calm and follow the instructions from the authorities.

According to Google, you shouldn't run out of your house during an earthquake, especially if you live in an apartment. If the shaking is light, it's better to stay inside and protect yourself. You'll just end up stressing out your pets more.

You have to think logically about it - if you live in a normal house, it's better to stay there. If you go outside, you're exposing yourself to a lot of hazards, like downed power lines. And if you live in a building, there's not much you can do anyway.

I've gotten used to it and just stay in my house. I live in a building, so I guess it's not worth worrying about.
